Every wedding is unique and special, a once in a lifetime experience where every moment is precious and meant to be remembered. My style of photography is a blend of traditional and photo-journalistic. I will be at your side capturing each special moment as they unfold.
No one person will spend more time with you on your wedding day, then your photographer. It is in your interest to find someone who is friendly and caring, where the moment is more important then the money.
For you, it is an investment of money to hire a photographer, for me it is an investment of time that I am sharing with you. Typically I will spend 8 hours with the bride and groom on the wedding day, but for me it will start before that even. We will first have an engagement session that will last a minimum of an hour. Besides taking beautiful photographs of you two, this will be a time for us to get to know each other. I will be able to find out how to best photograph each of you. Maybe one of you is a blinker, or a squinter. Better to find that out now then at your wedding. We will begin to build a relationship where you are relaxed and comfortable with me. Then, if at all possible I try to always attend the wedding rehearsal to meet your relatives and friends, and to also get a feel for where you are getting married at. I often will also scout out this location, looking for where it is most photogenic, getting an idea of the lighting that will be available.
After the wedding and reception are over, before a single photograph is edited on my part, 2 complete backups are made of your images. Typically I will shoot 2500 to 3000 images during a wedding. After the backups are done, I then pare these down to the very best of the best, often resulting in about 500 to 800 images. Once we are down to the very best of your wedding, then I will go through and individually edit and adjust each photo to bring out the uniqueness of each shot. There is no generic batch processing as some do, but each photograph is individually processed. During this time many will make the transition to B&W, a soft focus, etc.. Often during these times of creativity I will come up with a unique look and process that will be unique to your wedding. This process will take approximately 30 hours.
Finally when these are all done, one of the most enjoyable times comes, that is when I can make your custom coffee table book. No templates are used in making these books as many use, but each page of each book is unique. As I layout the photographs to tell the story of your wedding, the photographs have a way of becoming fluid and almost coming to life in those pages. Other photographers will do a draft of the book, giving it to you to make changes on, adding photographs, changing the appearance of other photographs. Sadly what I have seen, because of the busyness of life, this process can mean it may be 6 to 9 months before you ever see the finished result of your wedding. I take a slightly different approach, you have basically hired me to be a witness to your grandest of days, and what I will do with the artistry given to me, is to create a work of art just for you. With the end result being that usually you will have your coffee table book 6 to 8 weeks after your wedding.
As you can see, to photograph a wedding properly is no small task, and while some photographers will do a wedding every weekend, I try to never do more then one wedding a month. I have a great deal of pride in the what will be a work of art in your wedding photographs, and I want to be able to take the time to do the proper job.
